As a matter of fact, I just re-read Remember When for the first time since I sent the manuscript in. When I picked up RW, I was actually looking for something so insignificant that I can't remember now what it was-- What I came across was a very glib line of dialogue I'd just used in STWOM!
I did not remember having used that line before, and I said prayers of thanks that I caught it before it appeared in STWOM. I wouldn't have cared if it weren't such a "stand out" come-back from the hero of RW. In my combined books I've written in excess of two million words over a twenty-year period, so it's inevitable that some character is going to say the same thing another character may have said in a previous book. It's not intentional and it isn't important--unless it's a "stand out line" like that one was.
Actually, I liked the new dialogue I came up with for STWOM better, but I've gotten way off the track.
As to Jessica Hayward, with RW fresh in my mind, I can tell you unequivocably... No way, Chrysanthe!

Thanks so much for answering my question Judith. We had discussed this question on the BB before and at first I was so sure that he HADN'T, but afterwards I was so shocked at the possibility that he may have!

Yes! Yes! Yes! I always knew I was right here. I never, ever believed for even 1 second that Cole had slept with Jessica. The thought never even entered my mind. I was shocked when I read here a few months ago, during our RW discussion that some very cynical ladies here thought that he had. RW and Cole are among my favorites and no way would I ever believe that Cole would stoop to a sleezy affair with Jessica. I feel so vindicated!

I never thought he did either, and I'm always quick to pounce if I think they did *cheat* LOL. And it never ever dawned on me until I heard it discussed on the board.
Cole wouldn't cheat, besides he has standards to keep up, he's a S & S prizewinner LMAO.

LOL I'm glad he didn't. I didn't get that impression either until I read some of the past posts on the bb and they were talking about it and I was like "huh?" and I had to go back again to re-read the sections to understand

I read RW about three months ago and I now for a fact that Cole did not have sex with Jessica Hayward. Her husband came to the barn while Jessica was taking her bra off. She left her bra in his room when she sneak out.
NO WAY!!!! Cole respect Jessica's husband to do anything with his wife.

Liz, the debate here on the BB was not about that time in particular, but about them having had an affair in the past. There is a passage in RW where Jessica is imagining Cole in bed and some here (Never I!) thought she was speaking from experience.
Anyway, Judith cleared the matter up for us, and I hope never to hear another bad word about Cole's morals!
Gretchen, where are you? Why aren't you holding your head high? This is your man we are discussing.
