ANSWER: I think you're asking if I would consider writing a novel about Clayton and Whitney's children. If so, my answer would be that it's highly unlikely. (My answer would be that because I make it a habit to never say never.)
For one thing, I don't want to write about Clay and Whitney with gray hair. A spin off that takes place at about the same time as the original novel, is okay with me--i.e., UNTIL YOU.
I just don't like sequels; I've never read one that was the equal to the original.
When I leave a couple at the end of an historical novel, they're in a wonderful place. I took them them there; I made the trip with them--and it's never an easy trip. And then I told them goodbye. I want them to live on in my memory as they were.
There's one more problem with sequels to regency historicals, and that is that the regency period marked the end of the glamorous, elegant, free-wheeling ways of the English aristrocracy. Clayton and Whitney's children would never have known a life like their parents enjoyed.
QUESTION: I would enjoy reading about Noah and all the others.
No problem here with the heroes and heroines of my contemporary novels. I love to let them drop in as secondary characters in later novels as long as I can do it without contriving it. I intended to let Matt and Meredith Farrell appear in STWOM, but although they're mentioned as friends of the heroine, they don't show up. When you read STWOM, I think you'll understand why they aren't in it. It's hard to explain except to say, I felt..sensed...believed they didn't belong there. That's the best explanation I can give you. Their chauffeur does, Joe O'Hara, is very much a part of the novel though.
Courtney Maitland, Noah's sister has a substantial role in STWOM. Although, the truth is, she originally existed in STWOM to bring about an ending that I didn't use. I left her in the novel anyway, because I love Courtney.

Can't wait to "meet" Joe and Courtney again!

This sounds so interesting. I would love to hear more about that ending - after we have had a chance to read the one actually used, of course.

You know...I was just finishing up W, ML and I had a thought. I was thinking that it might be fun to hear about Alicia Westmorelands story...Clayton and Stephen's mom...we got a glimpse of it when she said that she fled from him and he didn't come for four days, but I think it would be vastly amusing to hear the whole story...although, it would be sad to know that the hero dies...perhaps that is why she hasn't written that one?...

i was very curious about Courtney being on the ending...now that i know that judith is planning on her to be a big part of the ending, i now become restless just thinking what was her part on it.
