Did they have only one child? I hope not, because I would've wanted them to have a boy also. You know, complete set and all-lol!

Only one daughter has been mentioned when they've been mentioned in subsequent books. I doubt if they'd have another, remember Meredith wasn't supposed to have any?

Yes, but since they suceeded with Marissa, I thought it likely that they'd try again. I mean, it would be a waste if Matt didn't get to pass on his male genes- he's not getting any younger you know. It would be great if he had a handsome son who looked just like him. Posts: 881 | Registered: Apr 2000

I don't mind the political correctness about the exact dates and such. To me, if JM wants Matt to be 5 years older, then HECK, he's sure going to be 5 years older, not 53 years old. Whatever she says, goes!

LOL! True, that's why I'm only four as of now. Oh, to be so young...
But on a serious note, Matt was already in his forties in Perfect, so technically it's hard not to count how old he is right now. Which is not necessarily a bad thing. But he just has to pass on his "Matt" genes, y'know? He has to have a little boy-lol! It would be a shame if he didn't.
And besides, even if he is a lot* older than before - he needs to carry on his legacy. You know the saying, that 'we live on though our children.' Kind of like the way Ian lives through Jonathan Thornton. That little boy was amazing. I wouldn't mind reading about him either, even if it meant seeing an older Ian or an older Elizabeth. Witnessing things like that are just beautiful.
But back to Matt...I hope to see his son someday. A solemn little boy.

True, but he's not getting any older, either. LOL
R O T F ! ! ! So true.
Saki -- I love the idea of Matt having a son who looks just like him! Funny...When Paris Westmoreland and I discussed this years ago, we decided he and Mer most certainly had a son and (in keeping with the "M" tradition) they had named him....Mitch. LOL. Now I can just pretend it was after his godfather--Mitchell Wyatt.
Maybe, since you gave JM a brainwave *grin*, we'll see an addition to the family in EBYT, mmm? I hope, I hope.

Actually, I don't see any problem with Matt aging-it makes sense given the Paradise' timeframe, plus I consider it interesting, in a way. But that's also why I want to see his son. You know, chip off the old block and all. There was a discussion here about EBYT awhile back and JM mentioned their daughter, and I was like, "Oh never mind Marissa! I'm dying to see Matt jr.!"
Even baby Matt jr. would be lovely...a baby boy with gray eyes. sigh

I originally fantasized about the name Michael Farrell, but it might not be a good idea since JM already has a hero named Michael. So there's Marcus Farrell, Mark Farrell...or Martin Farrell. I think I like Mark Farrell a bit better. Marcus John Farrell. I don't know, but I've always had a partiality for the name 'John'. So simple but it carries a certain weight. Mitch Farrell has a nice ring, too.
Ah, what the heck, let's just call the imaginary tyke Matt jr and pray he gets written in the next book. Posts: 881 | Registered: Apr 2000

LOL! Maybe they will name him Marcus Philip Farrell, after Meredith's father???
LOL!! I can just imagine Matt's indignation.
Well, maybe he will be names (if the M tradition would be followed) as Marcus Patrick, after Matt's father of course.

Well, maybe he'll be like his father and can shorten it to just "Farrell". j/k! I do so like Mitch, though. I guess I'll get my Mitch-fix with Mr. Wyatt.
And for sure, any child of Matt's would be adorable! (OMG! I feel a maternal pride welling up inside like the kid is mine or something. lmao.)
As for who is more so (Noel or Matt, Jr), maybe we can convince JM that Clayton hasn't aged, either. That way, Noel and Matt Jr. can play together. ROTF!!

That's a long name indeed. Do you think if Matt Junior were to exist, would he be as adorable as Noel?
I think so. I'd also like Matt jr. to remind me of Jonathan Thornton. When I read the epilogue of AH, it struck me how much 'romantic hero' potential that boy had, and to think he was only 6 years old! But that's the way it should be, I think- when a JM hero has a son, you just have to be able to see their fathers in them. Posts: 881 | Registered: Apr 2000

Caroline is probably like Elizabeth, but looks can be deceiving, so it's hard to tell based on AH's epilogue. Plus, the spotlight was on Jonathan and how similar he was to his father. Here's what I love about master Jonathan: he isn't described in the usual, cutesy terms- the way child characters usually are in books- though he IS undoubtedly cute, being Ian's son and all- a little heartthrob!
That said, I can't wait to see Matt's son.

This is the cutest conversation! I only have a mo but I had to put my two cents in because I just thought it was adorable!
Personally I don't think Matt aged... ever! When my little girl grows up and is stealing my books Matt will still be... Matt! LOL
I thought Caroline was cute! Maybe it was just me but when Judith put her in there and she looked up and waved I thought, "oh she is so cute!" Does that make sense? Just a cute, sweet little girl! I don't, that was just how it casme across to me!
Okay ladies you can continue with you conversation now that I have added my two cents! I really liked this thread it was cute and the "idea!" That made me smile, maybe Judith will give us a nice surprise! Personally I don't expect characters to live in "real time" so I would be very happy to see everyone at the same ages. LOL
Hugs to you all thanks for the smile, Tanya

Tanya, your post is so cute. I counted. The word appeared 5 times in your post.
Saki, I agree with you. The best thing I love about Jon is the inquisitve way his mind works, and how adultlike he was, under what must seem like a trying situation for a child his age.
When a child and an adult engage in a debate, and needing to seek a referee in his family members, I would picture the child running towards his family in excitement, hoping that one of his family members would agree with him, even if he has to plead and beg for it. Yet, in this scene, the adult was the one looking harressed; the adult was the one who spoke first. Aloof-Ian-Junior-attitude #1 While Mr Twindell was trying to get Duncan to agree with him, Jon nonchalently looked at the chessboard and in a space of a few seconds, decided who had the upperhand in the game. Ian-Junior-brilliance #2 Then, he told Duncan and his great-grandfather in amusement what the problem was about. Arrogant-Ian-Junior-attitude #3
I just love his mannerism. And you're right, Saki, he's going to be so hot when he grows up.
As for Matt Junior.. let's see. He has an older sister. I would imagine Matt Jr to be as dynamic as his father when he grows up, but somehow I can't picture him as a boy. For him to have Jon's kind of adult-like behavior and yet have an older sister... *shake head* somehow I can't quite picture it. That said, I'm not a very imaginative person.

I love your Aloof-Ian-Junior-analysis Jen! You certainly have a knack for it. Yes, I can imagine the hoardes of sweet little girls all vying for young Jon's attention. The little heartbreaker.

Matt jr. will just have to be a lot more forceful than his older sister- he's a mini version of Matt, after all. I can't imagine how this will work, either- with him being the younger sibling. But knowing JM, she might be able to pull it off. Posts: 881 | Registered: Apr 2000
